Meet Joshua, our February 2023 “Mentor of the Month.”
Joshua has been a College Steps Mentor at NOVA Loudoun since August of 2020. He graduated from NOVA in 2021 with an Associate Degree in Business Administration and is currently pursuing an accounting degree at George Mason University. One thing that stands out about Joshua is how he shows up to work each day with a smile and an awesome attitude, which brightens the lives of the students he works with. Not only has he supported students with preparing for class, reviewing class material, and assisting with schoolwork, but he is also an outstanding in-class mentor, and has mentored students in the College Steps cross-campus academy. Joshua does a great job of leading by example, and also shares helpful insights from his own journey that students can relate to and learn from. Tommy Murphy, Program Coordinator at Loudoun, says, “Joshua is one of the best mentors we have ever had. His kindness and care come across in every session that he works. He is also great at working with students when challenges arise where he is able to help through encouragement and finding the best approach that will bring about the best outcome. His kindness and positive attitude are contagious with everyone! He has no doubt made a positive impact in our student’s lives!”
