Meet Sam Law, our November “Mentor of the Month.”
Sam has mentored for College Steps since August of 2023 when we started our new program at Brightpoint Community College. He is pursuing his Associate’s in Computer Science to become an application developer. Sam is kind and encouraging in all his interactions with students and has a gift for connecting with others and bringing out the best in the students he works with. He can help students feel at ease, smile, and approach challenging tasks by discovering simple strategies for success. Not only has Sam done an outstanding job as a mentor supporting students, but he has also exceeded expectations as the Program Support Specialist for CS at Brightpoint.
In this role, Sam has exceptionally familiarized students with helpful campus resources and supported his fellow mentors in guiding students to becoming better versions of themselves! Tommy Murphy, Program Manager at Brightpoint, says, “I could not be prouder of Sam’s work. There are countless moments when I’ve seen Sam go above and beyond to support a student, whether it’s helping them tackle a tough math problem, organizing their class materials, or simply listening to a student who is feeling overwhelmed and offering helpful advice. Anyone who works with Sam knows within seconds that he is a person who genuinely cares about others and wants to leave a positive impact on people’s lives. I am happy that Sam does this in our program every day. We are truly blessed to have him!”
